As I was on my way to drop off my daughter at daycare today, we stopped by the gas station for some Cinnobabbies. As we were almost there, 2 ambulances and a fire truck came out of the Fire Station. They have a scanner inside the gas station, so I asked my friend what happend. She told me it was a wreck at 2nd and Reed and a vehicle had flipped over. So after I dropped off my daughter, I drove by the intersection where the wreck occured. Sure enough, there was an SUV upside down. I called a friend of mine, who himself the previous week was in a collision, to tell him about it. When he called me back, he told me he witnessed it and was almost – within seconds – in the accident himself. Apparently, there was a truck that ran a stop sign and hit the SUV flipping it. He was obviously shaken up. I mean with in less than a week he was almost in 2 wrecks.
He said if he would’ve not gone back in his house before he left this moring, it could’ve been him. It makes me hope he doesn’t think God is trying to teach him anything. As I thought about that later, the Holy Spirit brought two scriptures to my remembrance.
John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
1 John 3:8 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Jesus came to destory the works of the enemy! Glory! And He did just that! That’s the only thing that can destroy the works of the ememy. The power of God. The same power that raised Christ from the dead that is dwelling on the inside of us, is what can destroy the enemy’s works.
Those two scriptures alone prove that his wreck and the one he witnessed were not the hand of God. It was not God punishing anyone.
If it steals from you, kills, or destroyed something = Work of the Devil
If it is life and life more abundantly = Work of God
It is unfortunate that people still use the incidents of the Old Testament to say that bad things happing today are God punishing people, or God trying to teach people lessons. It is such a lie of the enemy. The enemy has decieved people into thinking God is the author of so much carnage and sorrow. Nothing could be further from the Truth. God is a God of Love. It’s what He is. It’s His nature. It’s His ultimate gift.
1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1 John 4:8 - He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
1 John 4:10 - Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
